Betta Caves!

I think it was around $5 at my store, I'm sure prices vary from place to place depending on competition. The plant is behind it, but the angle I took the picture at makes it look like it's on top now that I look at it again :)

If you guys are in the mood for a craft project, you can get the small pieces of PVC pipe,(elbows and whatnot?)
A couple of years ago I bought a bunch of them, covered them in aquarium silicone and rolled them in natural colored pea gravel. They looked really cute  You can build a betta maze if you get really into it. Just don't go crazy, make sure there is always a way out for air. Dont want any boys getting trapped in the tunnel o'fun.

Here's my favorite trick for a betta-safe cave. My wife bought three of the little crappy pint-sized "betta bowls" and three nice new bettas for our 3 kids. I went out and bought them each a 2 gallon tank since those little bowls are rediculously confining. I took the glass bowls and placed one inside each of the one-gallon tanks lying on its side to make a clear cave. I even left a small bubble in the top of the cave and they like to hang out and breathe inside their old bowls.
It's really neat because you can tell that they feel safe and you can see them in there. They can see when you put food in and they come out and grab their dinner.
Guess those bowls are good for something after all! :D

i have something similar to that in my community tank. it's actually a sort of round candle holder. the tetras love it!

and i have a aquamarine colored, but smaller, candle holder in my eclipse 3 with one of my bettas.

AAHHH! WUV beat me to it! I was going to suggest that as well. Or at least spreading silicone on the cave and then rolling it in sand or gravel. I did that with pvc pipe and with terra cotta pots.

I have 3 different little neon caves in my 3 betta tanks. I'm not crazy about the color either but my guys love swimming in and out of them.

This is my cave. It has a back door too.

My betta likes to sit in it and peer out his window. (picture from before when i had gravel)

Hey!
I have that cave in my girls' tank:

Over on the right hand side of the tank!
They love it - they chase each other in one side and out the other, and they go in there to escape the current every now and then!
