Well, I thought I was doing pretty good. It's been a couple months since I brought a new betta home. Well, a few days ago my 22 month old son took the liberty of dumping 2 of my 3 cans of betta pellets all over the living room floor. Talk about a smell! Oh well. The floor needed vacuuming anyway. Anyway, I went to the lps today to pick up a couple more cans and naturally had to walk through the betta section. That was a mistake. They had PLAKATS, DOUBLE TAILS AND CROWN TAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCORE!!!!!!! They only had a few VT's which I was suprised of and they were cambodians. Well, I started looking through them and saw a really pretty blue plakat and thought to myself, well I do have that spare 1 gal at home. I looked around some more and thats when I found the CT's. They were young! I had never seen them that young in a pet store. Well, I saw a CT that I really really liked, and thought to myself, well, I do have that spare 1.5 gal at home too. Well, they are not spare tanks anymore. I don't have any pics yet. They are floathing right now. I set them each up with some gravel from a cycled tank and an air stone set low to keep the water circulating. I hope the bacteria stick around. it would be great not to have to change their water every 3 or 4 days but I'll still have to keep an eye on them to make sure everything stays good. When the acclimations done and they are free of their bonds I will see if I can get some good pics.

You should know better than to ever start thinking you're cured of the betta-itis.
It's incurable.

:p

Can't wait to see pics of your new kiddies.!!!

Thanks. I wish I could have gotten clearer pictures though. Those just don't do them justice. The crown is young too. His body is about an inch long, about 1/4 inch shorter then my adult CT. I wonder about what age that would put him at. Maybe if I'm lucky a breeder will come on here and tell me.

Its impossible to tell the age by size all my latest spawns are still quite small but thats because they are slower growing over the winter months, one of my crown spawns are 3 months but still very small did a post on with pictures but were smaller than yours so its possible it just a small Betta but he may now grow he has some room.....its possible it still only young 4-5 months possible.... :D

The crowntail looks just like my betta! Except yours has a crowntail

The plakat looks awesome too.
