SO yesterday when i brought the new guys hom i did manage to get Nessi to eat 4 pellets, she wolfed them down even though they were a little big for her, she's so tiny

But Brom the beaten up old boy with no fins and an inability to swim just sat either at the top of the tank or at the bottom looking VERY pale and listless, it looked like he wasn't going to make it he was in such a bad way, for those who saw the pictures on my other thread they will understand why.

So this morning i thought being as Radish is on the pea treatment as he is a little constipted at the moment, why not try the new guys on some.
Radish of course wolfed his down no questions asked
Nessi inspected it but then took to it with usto and is currently speeding about her tank with a piece in her mouth lol. ^_^

So i then had to face Broms tank, i feared the worst, as bent to take a look in i saw him

He was staring straight at me then he whipped round (with a little difficulty) and went to explore :hyper: His colour has returned and he is a lovely metallic blue and it looks asif his fins are going to include some red. I dropped in some pea and after some investigation he took a bite, then kept biting untill it was all gone! I'm so happy. :yahoo:

I'm treating his 6gal(uk) with 1ml of melafix and just keeping his water spot on, he's a different fish to the one i brought home not expecting him to make it through the night.
Nessi is an inquisitive girl (i love her shes a little cutie) and speeds about her little 2.5gal(uk) inspecting everything, her filter and a few silk plants are coming on Friday when i get paid from Job number 1 lol.

But about the tanks, after we finnish decorating the house- including my bedroom- i will be making a betta row as i mentioned sometime ago. The tanks will all be clearseal 27litre(long) and will all be next to each other with black card between he tanks to prevent stress, so i figured i can fit about 4-5 on the surface i will be putting them on (yet to be built) so 2 of these tanks will be occupied Brom in his tank, and Nessi will be upgraded to one too, although hopefully she will have grown abit so that i can see her lol. That leaves me with the 12litre she is in as a hospital tank/ quarentine tank.

All tanks will be natural decore, and i plan to have some custom perspex lids made as anybody who has seen a clearseal will know the lids they come with are just black moulded thin plastic and so they allow very little light through, i can get these lids made cheap as my parents are both techers (STILL AT THE SCHOOL I USED TO GO TO!!! i think there doing a life sentance) and have connections in the desighn technology class there.

Anyway just felt like telling people as i'm in a good mood because one of my betta babies is going to live :D

Thats great stuff!
Ive never tried shimmer on pea before but in the meantime i might.
Im so happy hes eaten and shown interest! :D

the bit about the girle xzooming around with a pea in her mouth made me smile. and so early in the morning :hyper:
my red boy always does laps with his peas before eating them and begging for more.
glad the new boy seems to have turned the corner. good for you and a big relief im sure.
keep us posted. and show us PICS

Hi, the betta row sounds great, would be cool to do something like that myself (if you dont mind me pinching your idea!!)
I have my 2 boys in separate 20 litre (4g) tanks but have my eye on a couple of sorry looking boys at the lfs.
Will you be heating them all individually?
What about filtration or will you just do extra water changes, cant imagine how many plug sockets would be needed for all those tanks & the electic bill!!!
Cant wait to see some pics!!

Haha well yes i am customising my room to have alot of plug sockets and some very heavy duty surfaces to hold the tanks.

They will be individually heated and filterd as they are all seperate tanks, i also find it easier to contain disease this way should any occur i also just prefer the thought of the bettas having their own individual space too.

Brom flared today!!! My he's coming along fast his fins are clear and he'sgoing to be beautiful

Radish has been a complete pig as he's been having starve days to slim him down but i fed the kuhlis last night using my new method of soaking the pellet untill it is mushy then breaking it up so that as they sift through the sand they find the little peices, well radish pigged out AGAIN so he's on total lock down for two days, then a pea

My dear little Nessi is the only tank i have in the spare bedroom i am currently in as she was the only tank i could move myself with it only being a 12 litre, I couldnt sleep not having a tank in my room and she handled the moving well.

I am worried though as BRom and Radish are still in my bedroom and the builder is insisting on ripping out some stuff today, so he's under very explicit instruction to not go near the tanks or use and form of chemical in that room untill the tanks are moved after i get back from work.

It was only yesterday at 5pm that i was told i had to have all my stuff moved out so that they could start, well with a lot of help from my other half (don't know what i'd do without him) i got all my stuff out, just the two tanks left.

forest-
glad everyone's doing so well. great news.
just some friendly advice-
feed the pea NOW and THEN starve for two days...think of it as eating fiber...you eat it now and then give it time to "work", not the other way around. make sense?
peas then starve.

excellent plan too for all the tanks. more pics
cheers

Job went great! I'm hired lol i'm working sunday.

Had alot of work to do and had to persuade a woman that a ghost knife was not appropriate for her 60 litre *smacks head* she was adamant thats what she wanted and that she knew about cycling as she had read about it and got her tank specifically for the BGK, i thought to myself if she had researched then she would know that a 60 litre is in no way big enough for a BGK she also wanted to buy the biggest guy in the shop, She was in for well over an hour looking round after i finally persuaded her that it wasnt the best idea, i had to bag some fish for another group of customers, and after i had done that i was told to bag a dwarf cichlid for a customer (cockatoo i think, my cichlid knowlage needs work as we have a huge malawi section), off i went and bagged one and as i took it to the till i realised who it was for, the woman who had wanted the BGK she was leaving with 2 killifish 2 upside down cats and a dwarf cichlid.

I don't know which option was worse, BGK or her selection, we tryed to offer her caresheet for the fish but she just left them. I bet i see her in a few days and she'll be claiming that we didnt warn her.

Did alot of tank maintinance, good job i don't mind doing it, i cleared out everything from Sevs to platys to baby oscars. Fed every fish in the shop before closing too.

Also had to catch exactly 10 cherry barbs, i did it much to the surprise of the other workers as i found bagging quite easy. Apparently most new people didn't know much and had "saggy bags" lol they were also impressed that i didnt mind scooping dead fish out of the tanks at all (they are very strict with tank maintinance and keeping deads out of the tanks, if your not seeing to a customer your doing tank maint personally i think thats how it should be)

I worked from 1 till 6 and got a free filter for one of my betta tanks (they knew i needed one) and a fiver, doesn't sound like alot but i wasn't supposed to be getting anything today as it was a trial so i didn't think that was too bad.

All in all i loved it, great fun and i liked helping people with what knowlage i could offer and learning alot myself from other workers about fish i am less knowlageable about e.g. Malawis

They work is dirty, hard and at times annoying but it's a good job i like to be worked hard then eh ;)

Well done with the job :good:

P.s. Already posted in your other thread, but Nessi is a male PK not female....i am 100% positive.

Hey hon! The job sounds like it went fantastic, well done and free filter for your hard work - brill!! All I can say with that woman is you are going to get them and just do your best to recommend and the care sheet as much as possible like you did, it may get frustrating at times (my personal haunt is puffs at the store and always tell people about them when they look who then ignore me as passer by and ask storeperson who luckily also tells them the right thing, a couple have asked more questions though after so cant be a bad thing me being nosy).

All the best and congrats! Will await Sunday on more adventures!!

Great to hear your job is going well! As to stress stripes - haven't seen my boy turn brown, be he sure can display some serious stress stripes! (Every time he gets put in anything below 1 gal for sure). But I guess if he/she has had them for a while, would seem odd.
