got a betta and he keeps swimming up the right hand side of the heater, over the top, down the left side, and then between the element and the glass and so on. he seems to spend most of his time doin this.

The water temp is 26 is he warm enough?

Cheers

Hello and welcome

I know my Betta does something similar sometimes but it is normaly because he can see his reflection and is flaring at himself.

You would probably do better with this topic in the Betta section of the forum, they would be able to help you better.

Hi, I asked a similar question last week in the betta forum.
My betta swims back and forth across the back of his tank, sometimes for hours at a time. He'll do this for a few days and then stop for a few days.
He is eating well and looks fine so I can only assume he is bored as a few people suggested to me.
I have 2 different artificial plants which I alternate in his tank each water change which is every 4-5 days and I try to put them in different spots so hopefully this makes it a little less boring for him.
Who knows? -_-

mine does that along the front of the tank. so do my cories, they all go backwards and forwards together hehe!
my cories do it because they're insane and think they're top dwellers rather than bottom dwellers (unless theres food in the tank, then they're bottom dwellers hehe!)
my betta does it sometimes when i'm in the room, and he wants attention.

My betta is always doing it, i presume they just like the warmth, and my tank is a constant 30 deg.

oh and my other betta likes to sit on the top suction cups behind the heater. he just likes to rest there and make bubble nests around himself, because he's lazy and can't be assed to float!

thanks for all your help its kinda put my mind at ease knowing other bettas do it too, he seems soo happy and full of life coming to see me when i go near the tank hes such a rewarding pet i was just scared there was something wrong.

And as for posting on the betta forum ive tried no end of times but it wont let me(it says i dont have permission) can anyone help with this?

Mine does the same, it sometimes wedges itself in the most unusual positions, behind the thermometer, inbetween plants but it seems happy enough
