I decided to get my betta a tank of his own, so after a trip to (the dreaded!? ) pets at home i returned with a 30L tank complete with a wee cabinet. I was pretty chuffed when i got home until I opened the box to find my new tank was smashed! After a phonecall to PAH I returned today to get another tank and they gave me a heater (since one wasnt supllied) for my 60mile round trip!

I got some gravel and i was going to make a coconut cave for him too? Would he prefer lots of plants and/or decor? Was hoping to maybe get a couple other inhabitants for company?

Im off to read up on my fishless cycle because i started my first tank off with RO water i got from a friend of the family. I understand this maybe wasnt the way to go?

I`ll try get some pics up when im set :good:

he'll appreciate the coconut cave. :good:

IME bettas like a planted tank, but if you go the fake way go with silk not plastic, as plastic plants can tear his tail.

I think I`ll probably just get real ones, he quite likes the big plant in the tank he is in just now.

I see in your tank you have sand, i looked at sand but wasnt sure how hard it would be to maintain? How do you go about cleaning it?

i dont anymore because i cant reach it because of plants and the shrimp clean it lol.

but before i just swooshed the water around so all the crap was in the water, and then sucked it away lol. i found it easier then gravel. :good:

I'd advise a real plant because they let off oxygen and are more healthy. But if you get fake ones make sure they won't cut pantihose(I think I spelt it right.) if they do then they will cut his tail.
