i know im already overstrocked but im wonderin can bettas live with x-ray tetras (golden prestilla) as my bro has the same tank with 1 betta 3 cardinals 4 platys 2 zebra loach and a hillstream loach

the hillstream is a cold water fish.

yer we know lol the shopkeeper sed should be ok and they are just as long as we have our tank below 24 degrees

Have you got a tank heater? The tropical fish need a higher temperature though. So, i dont understand why you have mixed them both in.

And yeh, the tetras will more than likely nip the bettas fins, either way your tank and 'your brothers' tank are both overstoked to the max.

Edit: tetras should be kept in a shoal of atleast 6, loaches prefer to be in small shoals too.

yer i know we have a heater and 24 is the avwerage tank and on the stock checker thing it did say mine was 105 percent and my bros 99 percent however im rehoming the plec then it sed 89 percent

Er, well, since you're effectively ignoring the 'stock checker' anyway RE adult sizes, groups and temperature it's a bit rich to quote it for stocking percentage...

Not sure about the other fish, but shouldn't you raise your temp a little bit? Isn't 24 a little bit low for them? I'm using a converter though, I'm in fahrenheit.

I don't think there's any sense in compromising temperature. There's no such thing as compromising temperature...

that stocking tool, puts your stocking at 162%

now we know its not the best stocking tool, but your tank and your brothers are massivly over stocked and as you posted your nitrates where 120. This will only get worse as the fish get older.

alright mine sed 105 anyway can they go together and my plecs for sale

And your planning to breed your Tetras too.

Highly unlikely!

Tetras are hard to breed anyway, and the eggs will more than likely get ate by the other 13 fish.

i kept a male betta with pristellas in a 20 gallon. it was fine for months, but eventually the pristellas began to nip and my betta became stressed so i had to move him.

in my big tank the 26 gallon, pricllas live peacefully with my female betta. i choose a female over a male because they have shorter fins and supposedly a more easy going temperament. apparently know one told my girl that she rules the tank with an iron fist.
i would always pick a young lady betta for a community over a male, because the issues that come up as a result seem to decrease, its just a suggestion.

was wondering is this would work

when my plec gets a little bit bigger could i go to my lfs and swap him for a female betta

I would strongly advice, fixing your tank before thinking of new fish to put in there.

Even if/when you rehome the plec, the tank is and will be still overstocked. Could you not give all the fish back to the LFS and start the tank again?

Is this a general question or are you considering adding more fish to an overstocked tank? If you add more fish, you're asking for potential illness among your fish and risk loosing all off them.

Tetras need to be in shools and from my experience, those types of fish stress Bettas out. I tried Hasboras (shooling fish) in with my betta and she had terrible stress stripes that only went away after the Hasboras were removed. Now she's by herself in a 10-gallon and has a deep rich color!
