Hi,

I'm trying to figure out if there's anything possible for a brackish 5 gal tank. brackish as in 1.005 SG. I've read this is enough to keep bumblebee gobies happy, and low enough to not upset some other fish.

So my question is if a betta would be able to tolerate this salinity.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, bettas are beautiful, but i don't know much about them and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
Thanks!

Although Bettas can tolerate a small amount of salt as a tonic or when treating certain illnesses they aren't able to be kept in brackish tanks.

Just get yourself a nice small tank, filter, heater and bingo....you get to have a nice male Betta :good:

I probably would do it if i could find some bettas like yours around here.
it doesn't seem like any of the lfs ever carry the more showy species. and i don't have the money to buy one online.

in they 4th from the bottom, was that a female betta with goldfish??????
if so what, bettas are tropical fish, they need a heater and higher water temps, goldfish are colder water fish and sometimes even need a cooler to keep there temps ok, they cant be kept in the same tank.....

and i am not tryin to be nasty, but if the owner dosent even know what the correct water specifactions are for the kind of fish they have maby the failed attempt at breeding was due to incorrect tank conditions?
