I remember seeing a topic about a tank that was 2.5 gallons and it housed a betta and 2 or 3 cories(I think they were pandas or pygmys, I cant remember) Would this be okay?
P.S.- click my eggs so they dont die!!!

i personally wounldnt do this. the only reason is because the size of the tank. i dont like keeping bettas in anything under 5 gal, and only by themselves.
if you had a larger tank, such as a 10 gal then a betta and cories would be alright.

Hi Chrs :)

A 2 1/2 gallon tank is a little small for any kind of cory, but you could use it for a few C. pygmaeus, hastatus or habrosus, without the betta. These are the smallest corys. C. pandas are larger (about 2") and are quite sensitive to their environment, so I wouldn't recommend them for you at all.

The problem with keeping a betta with any corys is usually that you have to favor one over the other when setting temperature and amount of water movement, as well as the disposition of the betta. Bettas prefer warm, still water and corys like cooler water with excellent circulation because they are found in rivers and streams.

When a fish lives in a tank with an environment that is less than ideal, the result is stress that could effect its immune system. Both bettas and corys are prone to developing fin rot and other bacterial infections when this happens.

What do you think about a 2.5 gallon with 3 pygmy cories and cherry shrimp?

Hi Chrs :)

If you mean with out the betta, I think that would work. I don't know too much about shrimp, but they are getting very popular these days. If I see any for sale around here I'll probably get some to try in my cory tanks too.

i wouldnt add any cories for such a small tank but i have a 3G tank and have a betta and a apple snail in there. this is fine. never had any problem
