I have one Betta in a 20 gallon tank with 8 neon tetras(now 7). He attacked one and took a chunk out of it killing it. He is also displaying agressive behavior towards the others and I can tell he is looking to go after them. The people at the store said that it would be ok to keep them together and interestingly enough this particular Betta was keept in a tank with about 30 other Tetras. I have feed them flake food but the Betta seems more interested in eating the Tetras then the flaked food.

What should I do? Is this normal? I would really like to keep them together if possible. Thanks for the help.

I've heard stories of a betta getting along just fine with them, and I've also heard stories very similar to yours. I think some male betta just don't do well with them. That being said I've also heard of some problems with neons nipping the betta fins. I would suggest taking him out of the tank with the neons.

God Bless,
Joshua

yeah you#ll have to take him out or section your tank off so he can't get to them and has his own space.....my betta s the opposite with my neons but i sometimes think he could do with being a bit less laid back! :shout:
