so here's a long story short I'm trying to get my wife more interested in my hobby and her words was " i want a bright pink fish " and ive agreed but said it had to be tropical, but until today it wasn't happening as I couldn't find a pink tropical fish until I come across a couple pictures of pink betta's an she's said she like them a lot.

What I wanted to know is will I need to change my complete stock to keep these fish just to get my misses into my hobby or will they be fine and I've seen most betta's in small tanks and to keep things safe for now I was just looking at maybe 5 females and maybe adding a male at a later date

My current setup is

Tank :Rio 400 ( 450L)

Filtration :Eheim 2213( 400lph) & 2217 (1000 lph)

Tank temp : 25'c

Current stock

20 adult mollies
1 adult female Mickey Mouse platy
6 juvenile Mickey Mouse platys
1 Chinese algae eater ( going to my friend)
1 yellow Indian algae eater ( also going to my friend )
1 blue spotted female gourami ( I want to add say 4 more females )

And 36 fry that are going to my lfs in a few weeks once they reach required size.

Will there be any major clashes with what stock I have if I was to introduce some betta's in my tank??

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, yes. You see, Betta and Gourami are both Anabantids. And different species don't get along very well ESPECIALLY Bettas.
However if you were to buy a 10G tank or something similar a Betta would very happily live in it with no problem. THe only other problem I can foresee would be finding a pink one.

I've got 3 local fish shops to me 1 being swallow aquatics and a pets@home so I'm sure one maybe able to get one and looks like its no betta for her then unless she lets me get another tank thanks for your reply

The pink ones are fairly common. was the first fish and same color i kept almost two years ago.

And you can't really keep more than one in a tank.. they will go ham on each other or even a mirror image of themselves.

You could always set up a soriety of female fighters in their own tank, a min number of females in a soriety would be four, since they will nit pick and initially have some head houncho battles, but with more females and plenty of plant life any aggression gets spread around more and the plants help to block views and give one (if its getting bullied) the chance to duck behind the weed and disappear from the agressors sight. You could go with an all "pink"soriety or you could have a rainbow of colours of different females.

What ever you do though do not be tempted to add a male fighter to a soriety of females, they are more then likely to tear him to bits or he will go on the attack and damage quite a few girls.

Added a pic of one of my "pink" females called Fintan (means little fire), I believe her correct colour name is copper.
