So yeah.. My day yesterday consists of getting new fish.. so i had to use the bettas tank to put the new fish in for qt.. knowing that the betta was probably pretty happy all alone in a 10 gallon tank... i was like i can just put him in a 2L bottle for 2 weeks.. so i decided to put him in his own 1 gallon bucket.. a bit better i guess.. since our house has been really cold i put my little heater in the tank. and came back about 6 hours later.. only to find the water 93 degrees ; ( with a betta bloated floating on top.... yeah im not going to lie i felt terrible.. so i like it how my little 100 watt heater knows just the time when to malfuntion.. sigh...

just a quick question.. im probably going to get another betta soon. not sure when exactly yet.. but should i have a heater for him?
or is it not important to have one?

Sorry for your loss but I think in a 1 gall bucket a 100w heater was way too much... i only use a 50W in my 10gall.

I've never heard of a heater that's okay for 1 gallon, but Wal Mart used to carry little ones designed for 2-5 gallons (I don't know if they still have them or not!)

Since you said your house was cold, a heater would be good... only if it's designed for a small tank though... even 25 watts would be way too much.

This one looks good... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...mp;pcatid=12087 I may just have to order a couple. :)

Awww, I'm so sorry about your fish! I had one of my favorite fish die a couple days ago and I feel so guilty! I don't know why he died, but I still feel bad. If your house is cold, you need a heater. If you need a heater, you need a bigger container. I suggest getting a 5 gallon or so bucket and one of those really small heaters from wal-mart. I hate walmart, but some of us are on a budget, lol!! Again, really sorry about your fish! :rip:

Much as I hate sending someone to a corporate pet store, I just saw some small heaters at Petco (for 2-5 gallons)
