Beta's In A Live Bearer Tank?

I have a 30 gal live bearer tank and a 5 gal nursery/Secondary tank.
I'm wondering if I could get a Betta for my 30 gal. Not a male, I have fancy guppies and I know that's a no-no. But could I get a female? And perhaps get a male for the 5 gal if I feel like it
But I'm wondering how good a female Betta would be at fry control? (I have live bearers, and I leave fry in the tank and let nature take it's course)

i have a male in with platys and another in with platys and cories. My females are in with platys too. But all my platy's are males so dont know how they are with fry i'm afraid.

My bettas r very good with fry control i have female platies and they have given birth 4 times and thanks to my female bettas i have 5 platy fry being raised.. Perfect amount
