Evening all,

I have a Spare tank in which i'd like to keep a Beta it's a 2 foot tank with a sand substrate, i'm going to remove the fish already in there and put them into my other tank, do a 90% water change and put enough live plants in, my question is can i keep anything else in with the beta apart from another 5 betas ( which i know there is no room for) a friend said i could keep shrimps with her, is this true?

Any help would be appreciated,

Many thanks in advance,

Mark.

I think it depends on the size of the shrimps you go for. If you buy Cherry Shrimp then be prepared for them to go missing quite quickly. Larger species apparently do better though :)

What are the measurements of your tank? I'm pretty sure a 2 foot tank would be ok for a group of females- I had a group of 6 in a 60ltr for a while and they were fine with the space.
Corydora do well with female bettas, and I have Espei Rasbora in with my group of 9 girls, as well as a pearl gourami and a pair of cichlids. It's the males that can be a little bit more difficult to find suitable tank mate for I find.

cherry shrimps = lunch or at least something fun to kill!!

My bettas live happily in community tanks - and so long as they're the boss and rule the roost their pretty happy!

african dwarf frogs and applesnails you say its a female i dont see why you couldnt have a few more females mine have always been fine as long as theyre kept in 3 or more :)
