I have a beta in a 2 gal bowl. I have an Elite799 filter that funnels below the rocks and into the charcoal thingy. It produces a whole lot of big bubbles, not so much current. Is this adviseable for a Betta? Is there something better?

First of all, welcome to the forum, jumccaff. :hi:

In all honesty, your betta would probably be happier without the filter, as bettas prefer little water movement. I had a similar filter and, once I removed it, my bettas seemed much more content. With a 2 gallon bowl, it would be fine if you did water changes every 4 days to keep the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels in check.

HTH
