Make sure you are 100% about killing him before you do. Are you sure there is no hope?

If you decide it's the only way, you could either go down the clove oil method or the bag and brick method.

Get a house brick, place the fish in a plastic bag of some sort drop the brick directly on the fish from about 5 inches. Dead instantly, no suffer. Just try to keep the time out of water to a minimal.

James.

Do you have any clove oil? If so, a few drops of that in the jug, topped off with some ice cubes will end its suffering in seconds.

If you don't have clove oil to hand, just get a small bowl filled with ice cubes and cold water and put him in there - again it takes just a few seconds.

Another way is to whack it with a brick outside...

The choice is yours. Not a nice thing to have to do, I know.

Quickest way is to put the fish in a cloth or bag and bash it with a brick or something heavy :(

Or you can go and get some clove oil. Put the fish in a litre of tank water. In a small bottle, mix at least 25 or 30 drops of clove oil with a little of the water and shake until it forms an emulsion.

Then you just add it to the fishes container; the fish will become unconscious within 20 seconds and will be dead within a minute. I'd just leave it there for half an hour or so, just to make 100% sure.

Last time I posted about this, someone recommended putting the fish in the freezer once it was already unconscious from the clove oil and that's probably not a bad idea :(

So sorry for little fishy, best of luck....

as said in a bag and give him a whack its the easiest most painless way
