I was at the LFS the other day looking at a co2 ladder for my DIY setup. The guy said that the ladder was not very good in his opinion due to clogging and he didn't like the size of it. He recommeds/uses a power head with a venturi intake, to which you connect your co2 airline.

The price of the powerhead was about the same as the ladder, so it doesn't seem like he's just trying to sell the most expensive thing.

I currently have just an airstone which doesn't give me very good co2 levels. Any thoughts on these two methods?

I use the ladder and it gives me good results. It does tend to get clogged, but I clean it every week.

I was all set to get a ladder myself, but after talking to this guy I thought I would look into the other method.
The one nice thing about the powerhead is that it doesn't really stand out, just a little outlet in the corner. Also adds to the circulation in the tank. I don't know which is best as far as giving high co2 levels though.
