Best Way To Clean That Black Gunk In The Protein Skimmer?

The black gump build up that forms in a PS.. Whats the best way to clean that out and how offten should you clean it out?

are you talking about in your collection cup?

I just rinse it with RO water and clean out the cup intake with a paper towel.

I use an old turkey baster to get gunk out and then just wipe with kitchen towel if needed
