This is my first aquarium, 30 gallon four small jack dempsys about an inch and a half in length, (they will be tranfered to a 55g when they get bigger) they seem very happy and comfortable and active, temp is about 76 F, the tanks been going for about 2 weeks with the fish in it, my girfriend says the temp needs to be at least 78 F. my feeling is that 76 F is ok, but weigh in on this, I can adjust it higher if I need to. I'm a newbie at this but I do surf the net for all the info I can get on the particular fish and aquariums in general.

72-77 deg F. Here's a link in case your gf disagrees.

The warmer the water the more aggressive they can get.
