i asked for one for christmas and had to say "i love you mom" 10 times everyday for the whole month of december. You could always ask your mom or dad to try to get them a job in their office. Thats how i am gonna pay for a new 75 gallon

Do what I did when I was a kid and wanted something my parents wouldn't buy me. I got a job and bought it myself.


Usually I would say "Can you take me to the store, I want to buy a (Insert thing)"

If I came up short, they helped me out within reason. It was the show of dedication and the lesson I learned about money, saving and responsiblity that was worth more to them than the few bucks they laid out to help me.

At 13 I was making a hundred a week and have worked ever since cause once you have money in your pocket, not having it sucks.

I also have worked for everything I wanted. However, when it came to my first big tank (55 gallon) I couldn't do it on my own. For my birthday, I asked for Petsmart gift cards and paid for more than half of my entire set up!!!

thanks but i tried this i ask my dad to take me to the store and i had all the stuff and he sed no. then i went over to my grandmas and i bought all the stuff brought it how and had it set up when they got home and saw it they ask me if there were any fish in it and i sed no. then my dad dumbed the tank and took it all back. he never gave me my money

i mite get my brothers tank ! it only a 10 gallon though i asked if i could just by a bigger tank with all the other stuff in it and he sed no. i tried my mom she is usually a push over. she sed no cause we dont have enough money ( its total crap my dad just bought a car! How much would a 30 gallon tank cost? canadian (roughley)

start small and work your way up, thats what i did and now that im into all the good looking planted tanks and stuff my mum actually likes me getting new tanks, and she will sometimes by me plants, decorations and colourful fish if she thinks the tanks don't look good

Your parents sound very weird if you dont mind me saying.

You should try and convince them by telling them you are going to get a job to pay for it. The best thing to do is rather than trying to bribe them, show them how determined you are in getting the tank, and that the interest in fish is not just a passing phase.

The best place to start off making the odd bit of cash are things like babysitting, cutting people's lawns, washing cars, etc. Try down your local shop, see if they need any help with anything, if you have a LFS close by, you can ask them if they need their tanks cleaning maybe?

Just remember, if you can show your parents you are this determined by doing horrid little chores, then they may end up helping you out.
