Where is the best place to situate a protein skimmer to get maximum benfit? Internally or hangon is my options. Which would be the best buy between a TMC vectron, red sea prism and a tunze? Thanx for any help.

Doesnt really matter which way the skimmer is ran. Its really all a function of if you can fit it in your space provided. It'll treat your water as a whole system so be more concerned with what will be easier for you to fit/hide in your tank.

Never heard of the specific TMC or Tunze models you've mentioned so I cant comment there, but I can comment that the Red Sea Prism skimmers are a waste of time, avoid them like the plague.

i have one of the v 2 units(the second largest unit that they do), and although i have not used it yet  i have only ever read and heard good things about the hole range. not much help but i hope it does help bit .

the tunze are normaly a very good name, but for the difference i would plump for the V2 unit.

edit as above RED SEA = crap

If you can afford it, and fit it, get a Tunze.

Tunze aren't known as the best manufacturer of Marine equipment for nothing. They invented the venturi style of skimming IIRC.

I know a member of staff at an lfs has a Tunze skimmer and he reckons it knock spots off of Deltec.
