Guys,

After a dodgy week with my new tank i have come to the conclusion that i need to look after my sand to prevent many other problems.
I gave my sand a god stir and clean and it had turned black in places and stunk like hell. Anyway i am on top of it now.

I have been advided that plants with plenty of roots will help to keep the sand in good condition. Can you recommend some for me as i am no expert. Many of the plants i had in the tank had no roots at all but i have taken them out as they seem to be doing badly.

I have also bought a couple of Corys and a spiney eel to help stir up the sand.......snails on the way this week too.

So i just need the help on decent routing plants.

Help!

Thanks

Jon

Crypts are good it you want lots of roots. Often, when established, vallis is too. Both of these are normally very easy to grow.

Thanks guys for the pointers.

Are there any decent rooted plants that you could recommend for the foreground? Some short ones perhaps?

Thanks again

Jon

My amazon swords also grow fine in sand.Their rooots get pretty big.

For the foregound Echinodorus Tenellus and Marsilea sp. chuck out runners with fairly extensive root systems.

Dave.
