Best Filter Media Options

what is the best cleaning filter media i have just purchased a filter and came with a wooly filter bg filled with carbon in it and a sponge and has more room. Should i put some carbon in the bottom and fill up with more filter wool or add some carbon in bottom with ceramic things and then wool?

help is much appreciated

(sory if my typing is bad oim just reading tropical fish keeping atm december issue xD)

I'd say ditch the carbon and go with something nice and pourous, with a big surface area for bacteria. Or a very fine sponge.
