Hi guys,
I'm in the process of setting up a 55 gallon for 4-5 male bettas. I'm going to divide the tank into 4-5 sections with DIY dividers (using 7-count plastic canvas and poster holder spines). Each section will house just one male Betta... down the road I may add a pygmy cory or an oto in some/all - depends. That's basically it for bio-load. I need to know what filter or type filter you think is best on this set-up. First I thought canister because of the size of the tank, but besides expense, I'm not sure I need anything that powerful? Then I thought 2 big AquaClears (the 110), but again, not sure I need that? One real powerful filter is not as good as 2 gentler ones, because bettas really don't like the current. Also, I need to get/keep the water moving through the sections as well - but without creating a lot of current.
I've already posted about this in the beginners section (here's the thread for lots more detail) and it was suggested to me that I also post here - so here I am! Any suggestions you have would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Edited to say: Never mind! Decided not to divide the 55 up after all. Will get a couple of 10s and divide those in half, probably. Thanks anyhow.
