Whats the best diet for them?

At the moment im feeding Aquarian tropical flakes and Algae wafers, Do i need to add live food?

All livebeareres love livefoods, blanched lettice is also good, pea's are great.....

The flake foods, get the best u can for all your fish is way i do..

Shelled mushed peas (its like a shark feeding frenzy the way they act with them), blood worms, I give mine community feast which is frozen meat, shrimp worms, etc, and flake food occasionally.

I feed mine flake food, crushed peas, bloodworms with the occasional brine shrimp. Mine also go into a frenzy when they get peas.

What sort of peas? Frozen Garden? Im gonna try this , mine love cucumber and I also feed mine on Hikari Fancy Guppy and sinking wafers. I got the wafers for my catfish and the Guppies go nuts over it! They will take them off the shrimp and the crabs too lol ... :shout:

normal garden pea's just cook them and shell them as they cant eat the shell, just pinch then between your fingertips

i feed mine omega one flakes. i used to feed them a special livebearer food but my local petsmart stop selling them.

im just starting so i was wondering whether i shoud worry about special food like peas and live food or should i just stick wiht flake food fo now

My guppies love live food but I often use the frozen stuff - especially bloodworms - because it's easier and, unless you catch the lfs immediately after the live food has come in, it can be half dead! There's quite a lot of variation in the size of frozen bloodworm - the one I like best has worms that are small and even the young guppies can eat them - the packet has a picture of two clown loaches on the front.

Peas are a particularly good idea because the fibre helps digestion.

Even with the flake food, I try to have several different types - after all, I wouldn't like to have the same meal day after day!

For livefood I usually use TetraDelica's jellied foods (bloodworms, brineshrimp and daphnia respectively). I also have some jugs of live daphnia in the bedroom. I feed one of these twice a week, replacing one of the two daily flake feeds. Three times a week I replace the flakes by vegetables: peas, sprouts, broccoli, spinach, chard- whatever we're having ourselves really. Peas seem to be the favourite. My gups seem happy on this regime, and it makes feedtimes more interesting for both them and me.

Yeah, I wouldnt feed mine just flakes, even if you are a beginner.

Seriously its not hard to thaw out a pea, squash it between your fingers, mush it up and bit and drop it in.

Your guppies will  you for it.

I think I am going to try the crushed peas with my guppies. In the past I had put shelled peas in there. They do have a pick at them but I had not thought to crush them.
