i've just come back from a local shop and found they have given me a zebra danio with a bent back :(

is it some sort of disease ?

will it catch to my other fish black mollies or will he fine as he is ?

most likely a genetic deformaty, given how danios are mass farmed these days.
if he survives the next two weeks with you he should live a full life. :good:

I had a problem similar to the one you describe. Mine was fine and about a month ago it got fat and its back curved inwwards dramatically from the dorsal fin to his head in a matter of 2 days. He is fine now but still has the bent back but not as bad and he isnt as fat either. He didnt show any signs of stress at all and is compleatly fine. Cheers, Joemuz

yes you're correct it could be TB
however it is more liklely to be a genetic deformaty, or at the worse a poor diet.

A. Danios are very very inbreed these days and these deformaties are becomming more and more frequent.
B. sometimes LFS employees do not or are not allowed to feed the fish every single day. as a result their diet is somewhat lacking in what they will get in your home.

do not always assume worse case scenario immediatly but only as a last result.
piscine TB is not that common an occurance in farm raised fish, wild caught perhaps but even then doubtfull

I had a zebra danio with a bent back for 3 years before he died when the water company did work on the pipes, I lost all my fish apart from my synodontis :(..
He was the last one left in the tank and I felt sorry for him, he lived through hell too, I had him in the days i relied on info from petsmart books and advice from he lfs  .
So yeah, nothing really bad with a bent back unless its fish tb.
