One of my female guppies has suddenly got a bend in the middle, so that her tail is lower than her body. Is this a known problem or has she had some sort of accident? :(

Do you mean the spine is bent, also has she just given birth, a bent spine is fish tb so i would issolate her for now.

We have also had guppies that developed bent spines, not due to TB. It only gets worse so euthanasia is something to consider early on, as they really start to suffer as they grow.

I don't think she was particularly heavily pregnant, so I doubt she'd given birth. I'm not sure if her spine was bent, she just sort of drooped towards the back, and had trouble swimming.

I'm saying all this in the past cos she died earlier

If it's fish tb, do i need to do anything, is it contagious? All the other fish seem fine, although my nitrite (or is it nirate) level is a little high, so am changing water daily.

she was fully grown, so I don't know if that was it

Ok if her tail was bent i had it with livebearers usually when they get bloated with a bacterial infection, like swim bladder and dropsy it can make there tail bend, but they don't make it, sorry for your loss, R.I.P.

Although I've lost her, do I need to treat the tank with anything, or are water changes enough?

Thanks for your sympathies

I would do a few dialy water changes, good luck.
