Belly Up... or so it seems :)

My goldfish just got moved into a 29g tank from a 10g temp tank a few days ago. Sicne then he "sleeps" belly up on the top of the tank! It's funny to see becuase every time my mom puts cloths in my room she tells me he's dead. So I tap the tank to wake him up. Boy is he a cray fish or what. Does anyone elses fish do this or is my guy special (or lazy)

You sure he doesn't have swimbladder disease ?

Does he otherwise swim completely ok and cruise around the tank as usualy ?
He doesn't kinda looks like he's "struggling" to swim ?

though I must say your post is quite misleading ! it sounds like he climbs out of the tank and onto the lid and then lies on his back (on top of the lid )

he swims just fine. He looks and acts like a normal gold fish but he sleeps belly up! It's so weird. and no it's not the hood of the tank
