Just curious here, but does anyone know what is involved with being a Tropica dealer? I am guessing there are minimum order requirements etc, and I am also curious about requirements to care for plants before sale?

Call this a thought for the future, I don't think it is worth contacting Tropica themselves as I am not about to start anything!

Looking on the dealers section of Tropica's website they say there are some wholesalers listed there. You could consider talking to one of these maybe? Also, it suggests there are no special requirements, other than I guess a minimum order - I seem to remember Aqua Essentials telling someone on the forum they needed 5 orders minimum to get something from Tropica?

Worth considering, would love another good supplier! :good:

It was me who mentioned the minimum 5-plants order in respect to rotala wallichii :)

Just one of those things in life I am curious about, call it career plan b if you like!

Straying slightly off topic... I'd love to make a career out of anything thats not what I do now - IT Support :| I have a few hobbies, obviously including fish keeping. Would be great to be able to earn some money from it :)

Maybe you could consider setting up an ebay store? You'd just need some large tanks with good lighting to keep some stock in I guess, and ferts etc to make sure they're in top condition. I'm sure you could do it mate :D

Edit: Actually mate, I need a couple of pots of Eleocharis ''parvula'' when you've got your shop set up! Can I have first customer discount? :p

Wierd, I work in IT Support aswell, 300 computers across 14 schools for me, plus another 350 between a Technician and myself at my main site. Keeps me busy!

Ahh, good old School Sys admin/techie. I was doing that 18 months ago. I now work at a big university as a small tooth, on a cog in a big (potentially broken) machine! Sucks cos I went from being second in command of a similar setup at a private school, to being just another support desk person. Oh well, looking to move on again anyhow.

But anyway, back to Tropica, you should look into it :) See what plant growing equipment you have/can scrounge and work out how much it all costs to run, then find out what plants cost from tropica and work out your "fantasy" prices, and see where it takes you :)

Not sure if time permits at present, this may be my last school holidays that I do not work, probably full-time as of September. Still, I do have a friend who would like some extra cash and has lots of time....plus they have a brick shed with electrics...might be worth asking them about.
