just done a test on a new tank setup(3 days) up,all gravel from a mature tank(dont know if that makes a differance)
the results were

ammonia 0ppm
ph 7.6
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate 5.0

all (mg/l)

are these good or bad??
what should i do??

If there isnt an ammonia source your results will always be good lol, nitrate is probably straight from the tap. how are you planning to cycle it?

i have a mature filter in another tank and was thinking about putting some of the media in the tank..
what do you think i should do...
how should i cycle it??

even if you put the mature filter in then you will still need to cycle the tank. Add the filter then add ammonia daily and cycle as normal, your mature filter will speed things up considerably, test regularly.

impossible to say exactly, i dont know your tank size or how much mature media your using or indeed what type of cycling you are doing. The mature media will give it a good kick start so i would hazard a guess at around 3 weeks.
