could they be breeding?

They could well be breeding or about to breed. A couple days of "flirting" and then they will start laying, which im guessing could vary in time depending on the age of the female krib ie. a young female wouldnt lay alot of eggs and would only take 30mins or so.

Hi,

I have seen my Krib babies for the first time this morning. It is brilliant to watch.

They are definately initating courtship. I found that when they stopped the shaking and the female spends most of her time in the cave with the male guarding it you will find they have laid there eggs. They usually hatch 5-8 days later (or so I've read). They do like a couple of caves, I have three upside down coconut shells with a homemade doorway.

One small point, mine were initiating your description for several weeks and only finally got round to it when I removed my clown loaches to another tank.

What are your other tank mates?

They might be put of by the plec. Make sure it cant squeeze into the cave. Kribs like caves with very small openings.

shall i move the slate so the plec follows and then it will be out of the way. the plec wont be able to fit in cave as it is quite big

thanks

I have to say, i did move my plec but only because he kept pinching their cave home and i think it unerved them. They do however, need some tank mates, otherwise when the fry are born instead of fending off other fish they will turn on each other.

My tank mates are 1 molly, 1 swordtail, 3 panchax, 2 cherry barbs, 2 female fighting fish, 1 upside down catfish and 1 shrimp. Never had any probs, they just get chased off if they get a bit close.

No probs with advise, only been running tanks for 3 months myself, am thoroughly addicted.

Moving the slate to the other end of the tank is a good idea. Means also that the plec wont get such a battering from the kribs when there are actually babies.

i have moved the cave as well into a planted area was that a good thing to do or bad because i may of disturebed thier home or will they just carry on

You may have disturbed them but they will be on the case of breeding in no time.
