He was the first of 3 of these fish to go in the tank as my first fish around 6 months ago. one died, leaving two. I did have a Banner fish in with them for a few months but died, not from bullying. At the time I obsereved reduced agressive behavior in the largest humbug. The fish is about 1.5 inchs. All other fish in the tank are currently smaller.

I recently put in 2 small common clowns. The Humbug gives all 3 of his tank mates a hard time, but I dont think this is helping the clowns settle in. They look distressed sometimes, however are eating fine, and have no physical damage. I plan to add an anemone this week for them.

What should I do with the humbug, will he settle down again? I plan to add something like a yellow or purpel tang, will this take his leadership roll away again? Or should I remove him from the system.

The situation isnt critical right now, but ive noticed his behavior deteriorating in the past few weeks.

As I write this, he sits right in the middle of my 55gallon reef! :shifty:

After adding the anemone, the larger humbug hasnt chased any other fish! He is spending all his time trying to get through the rockwork to check out the nem, which the clowns are guarding very well.

If he causes trouble again, you might think about returning him to your LFS for some credit, at least mine take back damsels nearly everyday after they are used to cycle.
