So I've been researching the trade names of my new Nannostomus beckfordi, and have discovered they've been golden and brown pencils, prior to their now being marketed as red pencils. There are redder pencils, so I'm not buying that. They're beckfords to me.

I checked the qt tank today, after a few days of freshly hatched brine shrimp and grindal worms. Last night, I had full colour dance offs happening between males, which was cool. I suspect they're healthy.

I check twice daily. This morning the dance off had 4 of my 10 pencils in it, and 2 were females. Eggs were falling, and their 6 tankmates were eating them on the way down.
Okay, healthy fish. I set up a 5 gallon to catch eggs before they were all eaten, and caught the 2 plumpest females, and 3 most show offy males. They'll be in that tank til Friday, and if the eggs hatch, I should start seeing fry by next week early. They'll be small.

Fingers crossed.
