Hi all
does anyone have any idea how to get rid of beard algae ( i have read some descriptions and I think that is the right name) it has appeared mainly along the edges of the leaves closest to the lights and is grey green strands they get greyer as they get longer. My LFS suggests using something in the filter to extract nutrients from the water but I am concerned about the plants. They also suggested it comes about because of something added to tap w ater to neutralise lead in old pipes. It did seem to start up when I switched to weekly 15% water changes from twice a week. I have cut one hour off the amount of light and removed the worst effected leaves but any other ideas?
