I bought bomix beach sand for in the tank now it said non silica does that mean its ok for the tank will the ph start to rise? was I suppose to do somthing other than was it before I put it in the tank?
cheers
Mike

I'm not familiar with that product and a Google search turned up nothing. Any sand that has been on a beach that would have been exposed to salt water though will most likely raise your pH.

would it eventually come down and stay down?

It would literally take years for it to come down. Not good for most freshwater fish if it is real beach sand.

beach sand is NO NO for freshwater fish..
Im deffinately not dissagreeing with you guys but all the params are the exact same as it was before I put the sand in the fish actually seem to be swimming and playing more.....how long would it actually take to affect the params? does anyone know?
Thanks
Mike

It depends if it is actually beach sand, or if it's just called that.
Remember it could be beach sand from a lake or something too.

But if it it actually from a beach (on the sea), your pH should shoot up within a few weeks.
What fish do you have anyway? A high pH is good for a lot of fish.
And do you have any bog wood or anything in the tank?
What are your stats in the tank compared to from that tap?

As I said, a Google search on "bomix beach sand" turned up absolutely nothing so I have no clue what it is. But as stated, if it is true beach sandd, it is not good for a freshwater tank as the salt in the sand will raise the pH. If it's not, then it is most likely fine. If it were going to have an effect, it would be very quick. You would start to see a rise in the pH within a few hours.

K first I spelled it wrong than corrected it so you can do a search on it now i have a fire eel stingray the ph level is seven same as the tap water I put the sand in yesterday morning and it still hasnt changed did about 3 tests now on ph and same!!!!!
so im keeping my fingers crossed

I think you originally had "biomax" but neither that or bomix beach sand returns a result other than mentioning "beach sand" and "bomix" seperately.
