Just curious..... do you all have a battery operated filter/air system as a back up in case of a power failure? I'm fairly new to this fish keeping business and as summer approaches I'm remembering last year's power failure that took out the eatern seaboard... I was without any power for 2 1/2 days. What do you all do in that situation. If so... what is a good kind to get?

thanks for the replies.

Not exactly an answer to your question but I'm looking at getting a computer UPS system for my tanks. Even with lights they don't pull that much juice. It's just a thought especially if you have multiple tanks.

I've thought about a UPS just to power the filter and nothing else.

It's probably a good idea to have battery operated air pump just to keep the water oxygenated. But in the event of an outage that lasts that long I'm not sure there is anything you could do to keep the tanks running.
