I found my siamese fighter with its fins destroyed due to bad barbs, ive isolated the fighter, and relocated it to a 12x10x10 tank. Its breathing but not swimming much. It seems to be in one position towards the top of the tank. There is no filter in the tank neither is there a heater. The water is from the original tank and the temp is 24C.

Can i save the fish or is it a gonner?

Thanks in advance

Is the betta on its own if so add some salt for the stress.
Can he maintain his balance and not struggling to swim.

it will be in shock. i would leave it for a while to get over being attacked. just give it time and it should be ok.

as for the heating, just keep it in a warm room, i wouldnt worry about the filter. my fighter tank doesnt have a filter.

lol yeah i read that somewhere on here, guess back off to the lfs in the morning

Household salt is fine in small doses.
One teaspoon to 5 gals.
Good luck.

Make sure to keep an eye on his fins to make sure he doesn't develop finrot. But having clean water in the tank should be fine to help his fins grow back if they don't get infected.
Just keep an eye on him.
