hey guys~ im new to this forum n basically new to planting tanks.
i need some comment n suggestions. so i have a 10 gallon tank n would like to plant it. im going to get the flourite substrate and possibly 2 coralife minicompact all-glass fluorescent bulbs fitted into a double incandescant fixture made for a 5 gallon tank. and i suppose ill need some co2 injections. what else would i need to make the plants green? or is this good enough for a 10 gallon tank?

im not sure how strong your lighting is but c02 injection is only needed at high light levels and IMO high plant density :)

normal fertilization would also keep the plants green :) a good idea would be to read up on the estimatative index up there in the sticky portion of the planted tank section

Hi, and :hi: to the forums. I hope you are able to find everything you are looking for here. We try to help out at much as possible.

As for co2, you really only need to inject it when you have higher that 2 watts per gallon. I'm not sure how much light in watts you are planning on having, and how that relates to smaller tanks.

Welcome to the Forum!

As suggested you will only need CO2 with high enough lighting levels. I assume you want a planted tank on a budget (by your username) so avoid CO2 unless you have more than 30W of good fluorescent light in a 10G.

What power rating are the tubes you mention?
