Basic Plant Problems?

I seem to get the same problems whenever I add new plants? They grow fine, and to start with they look perfect, but after 3/4 weeks grime begins to accumulate on the leaves etc and they seem to be dirty. I only have a very samll tank with an internal filter. Could it be because I use flake food?

ooh, are you talking about when they just start looking yuk and fallen apart? or because the fish has eaten them ?

They are not falling apart no. I could try more water changes but my Corys keep laying eggs so they must be happy?
