I've split the 60L tank with a mesh divider and the male is flaring every now and then but not building any nests... I moved the female coz its easier to feed her brineshrimp to condition her in a 60L on her own than a 200l communaty tank, ive notest 3 bars down either side of her and wondered if she does this cause she is scared for wanting some lovin' she is about 1-1 1/2 inch long.

in the males side there is a costom javamoss/airline tube on the surface and half a pollostyrene cup.

Any tips?

Jake

Vertical bars are breeding bars...horizontal ones are stress stripes.

What do you mean when you say you have airline tube on the surface of the water?

Also has this tank just been set up for breeding or is it the males normal home?

It is the males normal home just split in two and had a change around..

The airline is a piece about 6 inches long with javamoss wrapped around it then thread holding it on, there is also some riccia attatched to it, then the airline it pushed over a sucker and is level with the water line.

not a clear pic but the sucker is on the left, trying to make it look like a piece of wood with moss lol

Ah I see....very ingenious idea :good:

If you're going to breeding them in this tank then you'll need to reduce the water level to no more than 6" and the tank should be bare bottomed. Also if your divider has holes the fry will most likely be able to get through to the other side and get eaten. You'll also need another grow out tank as 30ltr will not be big enough to raise fry in.

You may already know this...but thought I'd mention it in case.

Thats cool i got a 70L grow out tank with 4 guppy fry which are nearly ready to go in the communal tank.

That's great....good luck with them :good:

cheers.. im looking fir a HM male (pref white) know anyone selling one?

Haven't seen any white ones.....they seem to be pretty scarce in that colour.
