Hi

As some may know, I lost one of my two denisonii barbs recently and have been monitoring the other one since...Im pleased to say that he seems to have calmed down now and seems a LOT happier since introducing the air pump and not doing water changes anymore (as the tank is cycling) He started eating a few days ago too which was a great relief!

One thing that is quite obvious though is that he has lost his red stripe! I read somewhere that this can happen when they are on their own, can anyone confirm this??

Also ive just noticed that while the other fish are settling down for some kip as they usually do at this time of night, one of the male german guppys keeps laying in front of the vents of the filter box which seems to be sucking him into it, he clearly likes it as he keeps going back to it but it seems odd as he looks pinned to it and when i fist saw him there my heart sank as i thought he was dead!!

Is this normal, any reason why he is doing this??

also, I was doing daily water changes of 10% up until last weekend (approx 5th weekend of having the tank) and havent done one since, there is now some algae buildup appearing so am thinking of doing a waterchange tomorrow, is it ok to do this, as i was advised not to whilst cycling as when i was doing them daily it didnt lower the nitrites at all....Will I take a step back doing a water change and if not how much should i change? I plan on testing the water tomorrow before i do anything so will have results then if that helps...

Thanks...
