our Banggai Cardinal have bred for the second time now, so we got another tank to put them in during the brooding period, the male had the eggs in his month yesterday, so we moved him and the female to the breeding tank, i've just come to look at them both this morning, and the eggs are floating at the bottom of them tank, with little white dots inside, we don't know if their still ok or not as we thought the male would be carrying them, has anyone got any ideas what might of happened?

stress of moving the male to a different tank may have caused him to drop the eggs.

whiteness in the eggs doesn't sound good though.

Frank Marini Article

I recently read this article after buying my Bangaii Cardinal, I only have 1 but still found the article very interesting.

Frank says he waits until he can see fry popin out of the mouth before moving the male. He reckons this is about day 15-18 and explains what he counts as day one.

It appears if you move them sooner than this they can become very stressed and will either spit out the eggs or eat them.

You could leave them there in the breeding tank as the female can lay again very quickly and thenn move the female out as soon as you spot fry, or put them both in the main tank and again wait for fry before moving the male.

ah, my fault for stressing them out then, first timer doing this, thanks very much
