so i have a question... i wanted to add a plant into my betta bowl... make a mini ecosystem for them... but i couldnt find a plant that i liked and couldnt find one that wasnt gonna grow like a weed... so i did some research online and talked to some ppl and it was suggested to me about adding a stick or two of lucky bamboo....

i'm wondering what thoughts you guys might have on that... if that is something that might be a good idea, b/c i read that bamboo doesnt require much care

Lucky bamboo is an easy plant to take care of---You pretty much jsut need to add water and it will be fine. The bamboo will also benefit from the waste from your betta. Also, you want to make sure not to sumbegre the leaves of the lucky bamboo under water.

thanks :)

right now my guys are in a gallon, with fake plants.. they get a water change every 5-7 days and partial water changes every 2-3. i thought that bamboo might be nice for them, since it'll help take out the nitrates in the water (am i wrong?) i read that you should only submerge at least 3" or the bamboo in water... the sticks that i got are a lot larger and stick out of the bowls

Some of the anubias, cryptocoryne and java ferns are well suited to low light conditions and grow very slowly....why not attach a few to a piece of bogwood with some fishing line

I had bamboo in my 10 gallon once and it grew beautifully. I had it in right until the water was about an 1" away from the leaves and they grew so wonderuflly. That was a couple of years ago and I still have the bamboo C=

I get Lucky bamboo rom poundland and stick it in the 90gallon, leaves will happily grow under the water towards the surface with not problems. I find Apple Snails like to use to climb out of the water to lay clutches of eggs.
