I woke up this morning and noticed that my balloon molly had developed ick. It wasn't present last night when I went to bed (or atleast, I didn't notice it). The molly is the only fish in the tank who has developed it, everyone else appears to be fine. This is the first appearance of ick in my tank and so I'm not exactly sure what to do. Should I isolate the molly from the rest of the tank? Or leave him and treat the entire tank?

Is there any medications I should avoid?
Any that are recommended?

I'm heading to the LFS after school to pick up something and I'd rather not listen to their advice (already received too much bad advice from them regarding my fish).

Thanks!

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Whitespot looks like the fish has been sprinkled in salt.
If the fish has whitespot you need to treat the whole tank.
Raise temp to 30 and increase aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.
Remove black carbon from filter if you use it.
Check med instructions that you can use full dose with the fish you keep.

It's definitely Ick.
My molly looks like it has salt all over its body.

I don't have any current water stats, but everything is always pretty stable.
Tank is a 15 Gallon.

Current inhabitants are:
4 corys
1 Plec (who's technical name escapes me)
a Guppy (+ 1 guppy fry)
1 dalmation molly
1 sailfin balloon molly (Currently the only one showing signs of ick)
1 sword tail.

Off to the pet store now to get something for the tank.

Should the Molly with ick be isolated?

No the whole tank needs treating.
Good Luck.

Okay thanks!
Tank is now being treated.

After closer inspection I noticed spots on the Dalmation Molly & the Sword Tail (albeit small and few), and so I guessed I had to treat the whole tank anyway.
Thanks for all your help! (And your fast responses!)
=)

You always treat the whole tank. . Some fish are not prone to whitespot like others.
Good Luck.
