Balloon Mollys

Can someone show me a pic of a pregnant molly?? I can't tell if she's pregnant or just fat. Another question is she even a girl??? Shes sorta aggresive nipping at the other fishes sides. Also sometimes she has white poop while the other fish have brown. Is this normal??? I could really use your help guys.

You can usually tell if the fish is pregnant, or just fat, by the gravid spot on the lower part of the body. I'm sure it's similar with mollies as other livebearers, the colouration gets darker as the fry's eyes begin to develop. Also, if you could post a pic of your molly, it would be easier to say if it is indeed pregnant or just 'big-boned.'

You can tell if any livebearer is male of female by their anal fin. If the anal fin is rounded, it's a female. If it's pointed it's a guy. You can tell whether a molly (or any other livebearer) if pregnant by looking for the dark spot above the anal fin. It is called a gravid spot. If you see a gravid spot and she's female, then you should expect some babies pretty soon!!

Thanks for the help that pic. was a lifesaver. As far as I can tell she's pregnant I can't see any gravid spot because she is black. Well I'll keep ya updated if any fry apear
