Hey all! I purchased a female balloon molly about a couple of days ago....and I got to thinking...they were several males in the tank as well as females...Do you think she may have already been inpregnated, or do you think she was lucky at didnt get mated with? If you think has been when will I be able to start seeing signs? EX: weeks, months, etc? Thanks all!

Mollies like most livebearers can store sperm packets and have fry for up to 5-6 months without a male present, its very highly % that she will be pregnant already.

Mollies have fry every 4-6 weeks.

Yep I got just one balloon molly female from the petstore and 6 weeks later she had babies and then 5 weeks later she had more babies. lol

Steady, I've had platies keep throwing fry for over a year after no contact with a male at all. Their fry are removed from the tank as soon as they are born and there's no chance that male fry grew up in the tank.

It's harder to tell with balloon mollies than most other species if they are pregnant or not because they are already so bulbous looking even when not gravid. I dont' have any so maybe somebody else has some example pics.
