Balloon Molly Question/hi I'm New

Hello all! My name is Lila (Leela) I'm new.

I just recently added a balloon molly in my tank.. He got ICH... so I had to separate him, and I'm treating him for it now.

I decided I really liked the balloon mollies so I went and got two more. a male and a female (at the time I didn't know how to sex them, otherwise I would have gotten 2 females since I already had a male)

ANYWAY

the new male keeps laying around on the gravel.. I read balloon mollies like to stay close to the surface, but this one keeps hiding under plants and staying low. Is he shy maybe? or is that a sign of something else?

and Now since I have two males... and one female... should i buy 3 more females?

Isn't it 1 male for every 2 females? I don't want the two males to fight when I put the ich-free male back in there.

wellcome to the forum
ich is a water bound disease so keep your eye on your main tank if the sick molly had all ready been introduced into the tank
with ich i only got it once and found raising the tempreture to around 80f and using interpet no 6 anti whitespot cured it within a few days
i allways have at least two females to a male so id definately get more females
as for the other fish maybe hes a little stressed or could be being bullied keep a close eye on him
id allso check your water stats to be on safe side

with ich i only got it once and found raising the tempreture to around 80f and using interpet no 6 anti whitespot cured it within a few days

thanks so much for responding! today i woke up and the new male fish was dead on the gravel I put him in a little container and I think I can exchange it at the petstore...there is a 30 day warranty or something. I got him last week. another thing i noticed today is that my black female has ich now, too! darn it! Should i just put the ich-infested male back in the tank and treat the whole tank? he looks kinda lonely in the little tank.. it's just him and a plant.

do you know anything about the salt treatment?

I have a small water heater so maybe i'll raise the temp today after work.

the ich medicine I'm using right now is "kordon" brand and its called "ich attack" 100% natural and the lady at the pet store told me that is what they use and that it works very well.

any more tips would be appreciated! thanks again linda. you rock for replying.

sorry you lost the molly

i had a feeling you would need to treat the whole tank sorry
ive never used the medication your using now sorry tbh i dont have much faith in the herbal natural remedies
thet say using aquarium sallution is good

they say 1 tablespoon per 9 litres of aquarium water

do you only have mollies as some other species dont take very well to adding the salt to your water

theres lots of knowledge on the site hun
