i have 2 balloon mollies that gave birth on easter the other day!!! yeah!!

while i was away i came home and only 5-6 survived! but then later my other molly went into labor and had like 20 fry. they both had givin birth in a plastic birthing trap in my big 72 gal brackish tank. i put the fry in a 1 gal tank i got from walmart! it was only 10$. it has a bubbler in a tube connected to a bottom peace im not sure how this filtration works????? can i make my own small filter similar to this or will this work?? i have quite a bit of gravel and the fry are so small im afraid that the fry may get squished! i have been replacing like half the water with my 72 gal tank water everyday so far because im not sure about filtration? how would i clean the rock with the babies in thier they could get crushed if a rock moves on them! :( the babies are currently. . 2 days old and not all of them swim around much. i have like 9 or so that are pretty active and the rest sit at the bottom and rest most of the time. is this normal??

Easy....take out the rocks. It's easier to clean, and it poses no squishing hazard. That answers keeping it clean.....I dunno about the fry, my fry always have a place to hide, so they are mostly out of sight.

Nothing to worry about yet m8, they will produce very little waste and partial water changes is all thats needed.

No point in cleaning the gravel until there at least 8 weeks old.

how do i get the fry out w/o disturbing the rocks and squishing them?? thier pretty small and a net is hard to catch them in! my tank is so small! by the way my tank stays at like 78-76 deg but at night it gets down to like 74! im worried it may stunt thier growth or kill them! should i get a heater for a 1 gal tank??

Three words. Rock-by-rock. And for the tank, I suggest you should probably do, or at least get a bigger tank w/ a heater.

whats an ideal tank for the fry?
how can i make a cheap acceptable tank??
i see u can make some sponge filter? not sure exactly how they work or how the filter in my tnak works?? i want to put the pic up but cant get it up on here grr.

A five gal. should be more then enough, with lots of plants for hiding. Fry don't like to be in the open. (At least mine don't. :p)

would i need a light on it? or could i just get a cheap plan 5 gal tank and add a heater and some hiding places and be fine. and maybe a spong filter i can make???

Yeah, cover would do the little guys good. You don't need real plants, silk would be fine. Pretty good idea for a five gallon.

i actualy got my 1 gal to just let my small aquarium snail multiply in. but when i seen this fish i really wanted a smaller livebearer fish in my big tank with just my few fish in it! my fish will eventualy get 6'' long most of them! but for now since they are young the tank still seems empty. i didnt plan on inesting as much as i have into my fish tank. im trying to think of the cheapest way keep them!

Yeah. Over here, I could make a 10 gallon tank with all that for 18-20 dollars. Oh well.

18-20!! dont sound bad gee! how would u do that. the hood and light i think is what would cost ya. lets see u can get a 10 gal at walmart for 10$ the hoods are expensive not sure the cost. the filter i can make cheap if i can actualy do it lol. and the plants i can get of course. the heater for a 2-5 gal tank was like 7$ so a 10 gal im thinking was like 15$ huu.

i have a 2 gallon tank for my fry, also have a few 3 gal incase it gets a little crowded, i personally keep the tank completely bare for the first few weeks until i am sure all the fry are healthy, then slowly i will add decore, a plant at first, then some gravel and such then finally a filter, i do weekly water changes, the tank has no heater but does have a light which keeps the water warm, have never had any problems with this method in the past, have used it for guppies, platies and swordtails
