How can you tell if a balloon mollie is going to have fry??I have one and she is so big she lookes like she's going to blow. But nothing every happens... Can anybody tell me where I can get information on them Thanks
I havn't had much experience with balloon mollys in particular, but if she looks fatter than all the other balloon mollys she is probably pregnant(although balloon mollys do look pregnant 24/7!); i would go buy a breeding net and make sure the tank has got lots of fine-leaved plants for fry to hide in.
If she has any fry they will go hide in the plants- just go scoop them up and put them in the breeding net and feed them hikari "first bites" fry food or liquifry no.1 etc for 4months before moving them onto crushed flakes(if you decide to go for liquifry no.1 just feed them on it for 2months before moving them onto crushed flakes or "first bites" etc).
With the breeding net, just put a stone in it to help weight it down and put a peice of plant in it for the fry to hide in to help make them feel more secure; just remember to keep it clean too . Also don't place it directly under the tank lights but place it somwhere the also has good flow/current from the filter in the tank.
I would not feed liquifry for more than 3 days!!! i have found that it slows there growth doen dramatically. I feed them Liquifry as soon as they are born and by the third day they are eating crushed flake food!!
ok!!! yeh sometime i leave mine on liquifry for a few weeks!!! All depends on how big the fry are really!!! I have 40 new guppy fry and they are relly tiny!!!
