Balloon Mollies Eating Fry

I dont know how many have been eaten, but i had to flush a half eaten fry. There are two types of fry in the tank, black ones, and orange and black ones. They seem to only be interested in eating the orange and black ones...i bought a tank divider and it's kinda keeping them separated...

why would they eat their babies?

Thats just what they do, same with guppies. You have to separate the fry from the parents if you want them to live
