I noticed one of my orange balloon mollies is getting thinner at the bottum of her belly. i have been giving her peas withcrushed flakes mashed up for two days same for the rest of the fish in the tank. She does seem like she is slugish a tad. Any idea if the peas will help? and how long can i feed the peas for?thanks.

Has she just given birth.
Being really thin can mean old age, fish tb, internal parasites.

Signs of internal parasites are.
long stringy white poo, or clear mucas poo.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Being thin or bloated, sunken in belly.
Enlarged anus or red inflamed anus.
Sometimes bent spine.

she is not given birth. she has just gotten thin at the bottom of her belly going towards teh top sort of.

She shouldn't be going thin if she well fed.
What does it look like when she goes to the toilet.

been feeding them peas for two days now, her poo is white and clear like. i believe it is an internal parasite, i'm just wondering if the peas would clear it out or should i treat her with meds?

ohh i see :( i will start treatment then.

she is very lethargic and sitting on the gravil, i dont think she will make it before the meds kick in :(

Okay i know now. she has a very very thin layer of white on her gills and her eyes sticking out and a red spot near her top eye. i dont think she will make it she is breathing very very heavy. i can try ti remove the white stuff but it is right in her gills like a thin lineing.

If you have antibiotics, get her into them ASAP. The parasites have caused a secondary infection. I have cured this before. Use any of the following:

tetracycline
oxytetracycline
chloramphenicol

which may be sold as
maracyn 1 + 2 (use both, not sure which bacteria it is)
myxazin
or under the name of the antibiotic

If you can get anything else that says it is an antibiotic or anti internal bacteria, use that.

I agree you need an antibiotic like tetracycline but it wipes the benefical bacteria out in the filter.
If the fish has tb you need to knock the bacteria out in the filter.
take a look here to see what you think.
